Help me support our president

Posted on 05/23/2006 12:49:47 PM PDT by Aval0n

Hey guys, I work with a bunch of liberals who are always debating the war on iraq. I know that we removed a tyrant and I personally belive America is safer without him in power, but my co workers are always bashing bush saying how there was no immediate threat and we didn't have the proof we needed to invade the country. One guy always references things happening in the congo and other parts of the world, and always falls back on that when we get a little deep into the debate and asks why we only went into Iraq. He always refernces Big Oil. I know this is B.S. He just thinks that Bush bows to big companies.

The only defense I use about us not going into the other areas is because they didn't pose a threat to us directly, and different demographics are required for different countries. I always ask him (since he's ex-navy) how spread out he thinks our troops really should be?

I am also just trying to educate myself a bit more with all the events that have happened. I know that us going into Iraq caused tons of positive things like Lybia turning over the nuclear programs that they were involved in, and democracy spreading like a virus, but they can't see past the initial reason of the war.

I am just looking for a little help defending our president and our country. I've seen on the forums talking about sadaam being link to al-queda but I can't remember the atricles that they were in. Any links to posts reguarding this matter would also be greatly appretiated. Thanks so much in advance for any help any of you may have.

God Bless America!!!

Ask your buddy... if we were after Iraq's oil, where is it? If we were after oil during the first gulf war, why didn't we just keep Kuwait?

If it's all about oil, why are gas prices so high?

Yea, and ask them if we're just 'taking it' as I'm sure he believes, or whether we're actually spending tons of money to rebuild their infrastructure so they can *sell* it to us at market prices. See if he understands that.

When the moron comes back about Oil, ask him WHY we haven't taken over Saudi Arabia and Canada, both countries have FAR more oil than Iraq does.

You can start with reminding them of this quote from 1998.

"The community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now: a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists. If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow." -- Bill Clinton in 1998

Woops Sorry, I'll post in chat next time! Also, I guess virus was a bad term to use! LOL I just meant that people accept it and seem to thrive for it since they've seen democracy in action in their own land.

He just thinks that Bush bows to big companies.

People who respect the President call him PRESIDENT Bush.

After this ZOT, maybe you'll remember that with the next try.
