I don't know that place specifically - heh, it wouldn't let me enter the site when I chose "other source" instead of "Rush Limbaugh" as to how I heard about them - but I got *in* using Rush's name.

Umm, when I was not poor, I used to buy lots of meats and birds from places like this and I can't think of any that weren't delicious. However, I do have to say that if you asked me *now* whether they were worth the costs, I would probably think twice before answering.

I went in on a sample pack with my former neighbors a while back, which was like the Rush "special" - 2 strips, 2 ribeyes, 2 filets - then burgers and dogs - plus some chickens. I have to say we were NOT impressed, but this was even a local place.

What was intriguing with the Rush special was the "steak dogs," since you mentioned delicious hot dogs. I wonder if that just means all-beef or if they're special in some other way. Do ya know?

no idea about the Rush stuff... I have never tried that company... the price looks a little steep for my taste... 6lbs of ground beef is like $60 or something... sheesh...
I'm kinda poor so i cant buy expensive stuff like that...

I heard all the talkng points about the "Rush Package" and their meats - and I don't doubt they're super prime and delicious. It's just the damn price factor! For me, it's the old law of diminishing returns - after a certain point, it ain't worth it!

What we've all been doing is a mini version of the free market! We've exchanged info on quality, price, etc. and perhaps this sort of information and greater competition among the brands will result in lower prices without lower quality.

The old axiom is true: the best advertising is word of mouth. Now - since we've been exchanging gourmet and gastronomical tales, I've got another tale!

A couple months ago I received a coupon urging me to make an online purchase of some steaks. I was skeptical -- as I am of most ads -- but as an incentive I was promised a set of quality steak knives. The beef was described as magnificent prime, and the quality was detailed as to why it was so excellent, etc.

So I went for it. My mouth is now watering as I remember the succulent superbness of those steaks! Yes, of course they were more expensive than Publix -- but they were'nt outrageously so as per our absteaks. And - they were WORTH it.

This is the way I view it. To me, such orders are a special treat that I occasionally indulge in. Of course, it's not a daily staple - it's a special treat. And I think on that basis they're actually more enjoyable precisely because they aren't a daily staple but an OCCASIONAL treat.

I've been on their e-mail list and I see they're running a 60% sale for Memorial Day.

If you guys are interested I suggest you go to their site and check out their selection -- by the way, it's not limited to steaks.

I'm a shopper who looks for those special deals and sales when I purchase something a little more expensive and luxurious than the ordinary! Anyway, check it out and let me know your reactions: omahasteaks.com
