If these girls just put out nice country CD and not used what happened as the means to their comeback then maybe they would have been forgiven...but their first single, NOT READY TO MAKE NICE or whatever paints them as the VICTIMS...it's an incredibly silly song and if they weren't hated enough before, in my estimation they nailed the coffin with that song.

They should have followed Mariah Carey. Carey had a great comeback after a bomb of a movie and album.

One of the GREAT lines from "Larry The Cable Guy":(paraphrasing a little here, but real close):

Larry: "...and The Dixie Chicks....what's that little fat one's name....Natalie??? She needs to shut her mouth, and go back to her job as a sales clerk at Lane Bryant..."

People won't buy their records because they like their political position, if they don't like the music.

But people will stop buying the records if they hate their political position, even if they otherwise would love the music.

That's why bands should SHUT UP AND SING.

Not by me.
Don't want anything to do with those venomous snakes.
They spew out too much poison for my liking.

Don't think this has as much to do with that as it does the Chicks' move from mainstream country for awhile. Their last album was good, decent even. But their song about Earl (the album before IIRC) was just a little off to say the least and perhaps was an omen where they wanted to go all along. Sort of alternative country. Top 40 country stations won't play that.

you know, they don't need forgiveness....wouldn't give that anyway..

but they are choosing their bed and now they must lie down in it..

I've said my goodbyes to them, and a lot of other "country singers" and my life hasn't suffered...infact, I have saved a lot of money not supporting people that are elitest and arrogant and self-serving, and who wouldn't be in the place they are without the likes of my money....

Their 60 Minutes interview couldn't have helped much, either. Just heard bits of it as I was doing something else, but I think they called their fans hicks and/or rednecks.

I couldn't care less about the Dixie Sluts, but I will merely note two things: (1) Natalie Maines made some half-hearted apology to fans back in 2003, but now she makes it obvious that she is a FRAUD since she only apologized to try to keep some of her fan base and now she is gleefully poking them in the eye; (2) When she gives the bird to all country music fans and then wonders why her new album doesn't go anywhere, she truly is an idiot. I don't know how her bandmates put up with her crap, but I hope she fades into well-deserved obscurity.

honestly why should they be hated? this is the united states of America they have freedom of speech all they did a few years back was say what was on many peoples mind and they had a right to people don't hate them because they are playing victims they hate them because they are ballsy. i stand by Natalie 100% don't compare them to other artists because they aren't other artists. and don't be mad that they stood up for what they believe in because they should infact i would be rather disappointed with them if they would have just let it go and that is rather immature that listeners would be upset that they had an opinion just because they sing professionally doesn't mean that they don't have an opinion and they have every right to express it just like you and myself at ANY time. They did nothing wrong.
