Country music isnt my thing, but had the country fans let them slide it would have been a sign that the end is near.

If they show nothing but contempt for their consumers it seems "dumb as a liberal" foolish to expect high sales.

I think this is just hilarious! Most of the liberal hippies I know really didn't like the chicks a few years ago, in fact they were pretty much derided as southern rednecks. Now that the country music crowd has shunned the chicks, they are gonna try to suck up to the other side. This is too funny.
I think I will go out and buy a few Toby Keith albums this week...

I'm reading this thread, listening to Red Steagall, Ian Tyson, and Wylie Gustafson. With the exception of Tyson's folk work in the '60s, none of these men are households names or million record sellers. But, it's great, timeless music. I hope I don't freeze myself out by providing this link (I think there's a limit on the number of listeners allowed), but you can check some of it out here:

Dixie Chicks? They weren't somebody long enough for me to notice them before they were nobody.

An idea for the recording industry MBAs. Maybe a merge could be arranged between the Dipsies and another failing group the Dead, in need of a spice of some sort, and be called the Dead Chicks?

The thing that astonishes me about Hollywood and other entertainment sales organizations is that they continue to believe they can insult many of their customers and it won't matter.
When their market disappears, they blame it on censorship.
For me it comes down to this: As funny as it was, the Soup Nazi of Seinfeld fame does not last long in real life. No matter how good the soup is. In fact, there is a lot of bad soup in the world that is sold on stellar customer service.

"For me to be in country music to begin with was not who I was ... Good. Hopefully this fat, little turd will go back to Texas, shut her friggin' mouth and live off the money she made making music in a genre she apparently never really believed in.
They--the Dixie Chicks--simply don't matter anymore. They are irrelevant and even Bruce Springsteen's self-absorbed invitation to Rock 'n Roll couldn't help them. I'm a rock 'n roller too and as such I rescend the invitation. Those b!tches aren't welcome here either.
My advice to them? Try NPR.

By picking the defiant "Not Ready" as the first single, they've reopened a wound that was particularly deep for country radio fans, and left many country programmers with the burning question: Why on earth would the band choose to do this?Hubris.

The Ditsy Chicks thought that with George W. Bush's popularity falling, they could ride that to a comeback.
The results are self-evident.
