While carrying my 19month old daughter to put her to bed the other night, I went to walk through a doorway and just has we get to the door she decides she wants to swing her head back and BAM! she gets clocked by the door jamb.

Was I a bad parent for not putting a helmet on her head?

Have you noticed the number of toddlers walking around with foam helmets on, like boxers or hockey players?

Yes, you were a bad parent for not keeping a helmet on her head 24/7. I assume you did at least have her dressed in her full body armor. ;)

Your story reminded me of one of my own. When our son was a baby, his daddy was playing with him and swooped him up right into the ceiling fan. Son's head was strong enough to stop a fan. No tears.

No, you don't want a helmet. They outgrow them too quickly, and they tend to be too heavy...

No, what you need is a big roll of bubble wrap, velcro, and LOTS of duct tape!

Heck, that's all you need to care for small children! Interesting how none of my friends have never asked me to babysit, isn't it?
