In my opinion by just listening to the news, etc., I think there is probably a history of Durham and Duke in general. I'm sure the local police have run into problems many times with students drinking, partying, etc. Most of the local blacks attend the college that the AV attended and there must be huge tension all the way around. Nifong has used the racial thing to incite the black community. He is a very stupid, unsophisticated, dangerous person. The reason I say dangerous is because he has gotten the likes of the New Black Panthers involved (a racist hate group), the Sharptons, Jacksons of the world. If this thing doesn't end up THEIR WAY, Nifong will have an all out riot down there and that is dangerous! I have never seen a more desperate person in my life. The end for him won't be pretty.

Very true. The Duke community and Durham have never got along that well. A lot of that is the type of students Duke tends to attract. They have a reputation in the state for bringing in some real spoiled brats who have massive sense of entitlement. Most of the kids aren't like that but some are and their attitudes are a big part of the reason you see so much town-gown tension. It only takes one house of obnoxious students a year to poison how a neighborhood feels about a school and with the number of Duke students who live in the neighborhoods you are bound to have incidents.

Most don't go. And many of those who do go to different schools.

He saw this case as a golden opportunity to ensure re-election and went full bore into it before getting all the facts. Because he'd run his big mouth so much in the opening few days he couldn't back down without hurting himself badly politically in the black community. So he'll continue to pursue this no matter how shaky his evidence is.

To state over endlessly that these boys were elite,had no regard for the law is just the media attempts to lay the groundwork that these boys were capable because of their histories.The race baiters and hustlers in this great country are always attempting to promote victimhood when the reality is there are kids who are just not qualified to attend college, let alone a first rate one like Duke.I hope the defense uncovers skeletons in "Nitwit Nifong's" background esp. that time he got a lap dance at the "hairy hole strip club".
