Mary Cheney was just on NPR's Diane Rehm Show, promoting her new book "Now It's My Turn".
She spanked Diane and the standard lib callers pretty darned good. Sounded like they just can't possibly fathom a conservative Republican gay person. She set them straight about her parent's investments going into a nonrevocable trust that goes to charity, about the 2004 election being about trust and national security and not about Republican misrepresentation, about her being a person speaking her own mind and not a glbt shrill, and other good stuff. She told a number of callers they were just wrong about things. And she left Rehm without words a few times, trying to deal with some truths. That's always priceless.
I doubt NPR will invite her back for any future segments.
Kudos, well and truly said.
Well true. I just liked how she interacted with the very hostile callers on that show.
Thanks! Self-proclaimed "Christians" and "conservative" that think they speak for me, or I should speak like them, get under my skin in a big hurry.
I know a Catholic Priest who is a homosexual, but he does not practice sexuality because he is faithful to his vows. His prayer life is a powerhouse! Had he not revealed he was/is homosexual, I would never have had the notion enter my mind. I'm certain there are thousands of Nuns and Priests just like him in that regard. But once he told me of this, I was all the more in awe of his humility and that is a quality most precious before The Lord, humility.
If you really want to be informed about homosexuality here is an excellent secular resource:

Sin is sin, and love doesn't leave another person in sin. Your statement is just like the liberal belief that anything short of homo-promotion is homophobia. Hogwash.
And, of course, you, being a loving person, are quick to point out sin to the sinners wherever you find it, right?
See Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Deuteronomy 23:17,
and Romans 1 for examples of what God thinks about homosexuality.
You cannot possibly so utterly clueless, so what the heck do you think you're trying to accomplish with your immature baiting?
The Supreme Court in my state defied custom and effectively rewrote Massachusetts marriage law. I will never forget or forgive this incredible usurpation of the people's will -- no other act by a government official has ever angered me this much. The definition of marriage is up to the people. I know of conservatives and liberals, gay and otherwise who understand and agree with my position.
I support the federal marriage amendment primarily as a preemptive strike on judicial activism. Many times on FR I have stated (and taken some heat for it) that I personally have no moral issue with homosexual behavior per se. (Folks should of course be good citizens by not spreading disease and things like that).
How do you handle that?
What does God think of homosexuals?
Without the knowledge of sin, there is no repentence. As the scripture says, "An open rebuke is better than silent love."
Well, what are you doing here? There's sin going on out there, just waiting for your rebuke.
LOL!! You were the one that jumped in here to tut-tut to me about my posts. So, don't start what you can't finish.
Do you know Sacred Scripture? If you do, you know good and well what God thinks of homosexuality and of those who commit the act of it.
I know what God thinks of homosexuals.
I wanted to know what you think God thinks of homosexuals.
I've already told you what God thinks about homosexuals. It's plain as the nose on your face in Scripture. So.. you tell me what you think God thinks about homosexuals.
extremely well put
