Looks like there won't be any need for bans or protests. Chances are, most of the business will be done in the first two to four weeks. Then studio stockholders will think twice before trying something like this again.

Any wagers on whether it still gets an Oscar nod for something?

Adapting a hugely best selling novel? Naah they will always do this.

Summer schlock like this almost never does except in highly technical categories like Sound Editing.

Possibly, but but if the public response is more hostile than predicted, don't count on it.

As a novel the book is complete crap. No reason to expect the movie to be better.

The same sort of people thought Michael Moore deserved a Prize for his so-called documentaries.

LOL! The critics hate it? That usually means the movie is really good, and vice versa!

Exhibit 1: The Piano.

Exhibit 2: Shakespeare in Love

I enjoyed the book. But, I took it as a STORY! These lunatics out there are like a bunch of morons who watch an Oliver Stone movie and think it is a documentary!

I'm kinda of surprised. I never thought Ron Howard was a great director, but I figured he was so conventional and safe he wouldn't make a film that would so universally scorned by the critics.

Dan Brown puts together a good tale, as in Deception Point, but the main thesis (like Deception Point) is so outlandish that bringing it to the screen makes it funny, dull, stupid, you name it.

I think DC will one day be remembered in the same category as the Pet Rock.

Many successful literary ventures don't translate on film. F. Scott Fitzgerald, John O'Hara, and William Faulkner all failed as screen writers.

May it suffer the same fate as the movie "Primary Colors".

This film must really suck. I'm sure the Cannes critics were loathe to throw a bone to the Christians, but it was so bad they couldn't even pretend to find any redeeming qualities.

I hear Ian McKellen gives the best performance in the whole movie.

I think he'd make a great Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies. I rather liked him in the X-Men movies, even if he is gay.

;D
