A Giant advertisement of the "The Da Vinci code " movie hangs on the facade of the Rome's San Pantaleo church, 24 April 2006. The novel on which the film is based has sold some 50 million copies and depicts Opus Dei as a secretive cabal that has long worked to keep secret details of the life of Christ. The group complains the film "mixes reality with fiction, in a way which blurs historical fact and invention."

The group complains the film "mixes reality with fiction, in a way which blurs historical fact and invention."Yes, and I've come to the conclusion that the READER has a responsibility to research the difference.
A good book should force you to research a little background. The more I look at this, the more I've realized Dan Brown has done a favor for the church, giving it an opportunity to set the historical record straight inforont of people who would have otherwise cared less. Now, people will at least look!

'Da Vinci' undermines faith, survey claims YAWN. Not mine. Why don't we take our own survey of the people on the Catholic ping lists? I'm sure the results would be different than this survey...

It strikes me as somewhat odd that all of these stories speak about this heretical book/movie undermining the Catholic Church. What about the other Christian denominations? If the author's premise were to be true, it would mean that EVERYTHING that all Christians believe is false. So, perhaps this is simply an attempt to smear Catholicism and those behind it are so ignorant that they don't realize that it maligns the beliefs of all Christians. My personal experience is that non-Catholic evangelicals are as insulted by this as Catholics.
