DURHAM -- Lawyers for accused Duke lacrosse player Reade Seligmann want a judge to hold hearings Thursday on whether to compel police and prosecutors to turn over the evidence they've compiled while investigating the alleged gang rape.
The motions have to be heard now because there's a risk that evidence that could exonerate Seligmann "will spoil if not preserved properly," lawyers Kirk Osborn and Ernest Conner said. They said that could happen due to political pressure Durham officials might be putting on investigators.

I will root for once in my life, no make that twice the first being for the brillant lawyers during the 2000 election and their beating down of gore's team; and these lawyers who will slam dunk the lying skant stripper and nitwit nifong during the trial, does n.c law allow the proceedings to be televised.
The writer is either confused about Nifong's SEVENTY interviews or else he's deliberately planting false info. I go w/the latter motive myself.
I want to hear Nancy Grace's explanation/spin of how the accuser got FLESH on the TOP of that SINGLE fake nail.
Let's hope for more bad news for Nifong today.

Well the only thing he has in this case is a flawed ID. So what more bad news could he get?
Afterward, attorney Bill Thomas of Durham -- who represents an un-indicted lacrosse player -- said semen found in the dancer's body was "of recent origin" and had been deposited there "immediately prior to her being examined" in connection with the alleged rape.
well if the semen they found doesn't belong to a Duke LAX player it sounds pretty damn exculpatory to me.
the question isn't even if she was RAPED, the question is, was she raped by those that she is accusing of having done it.
"If Mr. Elmostafa's account is accurate, that the investigators asked him if he had anything new to say about the lacrosse case and when he said 'no,â? took him to the magistate, then the police detectives involved committed a felony."
Just like we thought.
just like you said, SG!
Actually, I can't blame the parents. This is their daughter after all. They have struck me as basically decent people thrown into the middle of a media circus. Their child is being handled roughly by the defense, but the defense is, well, defending their clients who are being tried in the media because of the horrendously despicable actions taken by the DA. Their daughter has become the football in a game of re-election played by a DA who should not have any public responsibility, given his abuse of it. I don't trust the daughter at all and I bet that she regrets ever reporting this rape. But a vile political animal saw the chance to abuse her far more thoroughly than could ever have been conceived by drunk college students. [And it's looking as though they had nothing to do with this.] But were this my daughter, I would probably defend her too, even if I didn't approve of her actions.
I hadn't thought about the deportation implications which arresting Elmostafa might bring up. Nifong really is venal.
Response #4 is pretty sick.
Parents should not be defending a stripper/escort as a 'good girl'.
No kidding.
You all need to follow GA's link and read those opinions on that legal site!
Man, we should all be lawyers! We're GOOD.
As much as we have laughed about this, it's sad, though, isn't it?
Wouldn't you at least try to find out if she was telling the truth first?
He really is; at least some legal people agree with us......LOL.
Obviously written from NOW headquarters.
