It really does strike me strange that the DA is not willing to speak with the defense at all. If the DA talked to the kid's lawyers he would have had to tell the GJ about any exculpatory evidence that was presented to him.

No, only ding-bat Nifag. The prosecution can basically indict just about anything when taking "evidence" to the Grand Jury. Its what he/she presents during a trail that really counts, 'cause that's when both sides are heard.
