I don't have the radio on now, but had it on in the car.
I just don't want to do anything that will make the State Departments job any harder. As exasperated as I get with them, I understand and support the job they do: Good Cop to the Military Bad Cop, figuratively speaking of course.
Also, our border is very long. The cost would be prohibitive and it probably wouldn't be functional. Human beings have a way of doing what they want no matter what. And we area pretty tenacious about it. Therefore, we need to find better ways to keep them out.

I suppose that's the job they're supposed to do--- I think many if not most in the foreign service see their job as representing other nations, and above all the international community to us.
Still, I agree we need to be careful. Many Americans don't realize that, as obnoxious as he is, President Fox is the best president Mexico has had in the last--- probably ever-- he finally broke the grip somewhat of the socialist/fascist (pretty much the same thing) PRI party. If he's replaced by that commie former mayor of Mexico City Hugo Chavez armpit sniffer, that would be a disaster. So i'm glad that President Bush is careful not to give the guy material for election propaganda.
