Isn't there a Harry Potter ping list that also might be interested in this "news"?

Good, maybe she'll have to write several more HP books to use up the paper.

Cannot put words to paper to adequately describe the J.K.Rowling scenario...

She was accused of hypocrisy by Simon Walters in the Mail On Sunday, who said overweight characters in her novels, such as Harry Potter's cousin, Dudley Dursley, are portrayed as figures of fun.

Oh, how silly! The Dursleys are cartoon characters, and the fact that Dudley and his father are fat is meaningless.

I must say that I think one of the great weaknesses of Rowling's writing is that she mixes these one-dimensional, predictable, no-known-motivation characters with real and complex ones. It makes parts of the books really drag, while you wait for a human being (Harry Potter, Severus Snape, etc.) to show up among the cutout figures.

I just want the last book to come out so I call tell people, "See, I was write and you weren't."

I was at a sci-fi convnention a couple of months back, and in the HP panel they had, the started off with "Okay, I think we can all agree that (mumblemumble) is dead . . ."

Hello?? No, we can't all agree. Okay, maybe (mumblemumble) might die in Book 7, maybe *has* to die for reasons you mention, but I don't think (mumblemumble) is dead.

"Dead is Dead in the Rowling universe and there is no coming back from Dead."
Agreed, but you aren't listening to me.

I tried saying something along the way that I don't think that (blabberblabber) killed (mumblemumble), but before I could state why, I got the retort: "So what killed (mumblemumble)? did the fall break (pronoun) hip?"

Sigh. Okay, don't listen.

TS
mumblemumbles added for anyone who hasn't finished book 6. sorry, but I assume prepublication rumors led everyone to know that someone dies in this book. Or do they???????

The rumor over at Mugglenet is that the 7th book will be released on 7/7/07. Which means the 7th movie will come out sometime in 2026. ;-)
