JK Rowling is writing the final Harry Potter book Harry Potter fans have sent JK Rowling reams of paper, after the author complained of a notepad shortage near her home in Edinburgh. Fans, who are anxiously waiting for the seventh and final Harry Potter book, sent Rowling everything from a single sheet of paper to entire notepads.
A paper merchant even delivered a set of notebooks embossed with the author's name.
Rowling says she now has "enough paper to write several book sevens".
Speaking about the paper shortage on her website last month, the author explained that she prefers to use a pen and paper to draft her novels, rather than a computer.
She admitted this made her feel like "something out of the 18th Century".
Weighty problem
Rowling has also attacked critics who accused her of being prejudiced against overweight people.
Last month, the author said she feared her daughters would grow up to be "empty-headed, self-obsessed, emaciated clones" because of the media's obsession with weight.
She was accused of hypocrisy by Simon Walters in the Mail On Sunday, who said overweight characters in her novels, such as Harry Potter's cousin, Dudley Dursley, are portrayed as figures of fun.
Rowling defended her books on her personal website, saying: "Several of my most important, admirable and lovable characters... are on the plumper side".
"'Overweight' in no way equates to 'bad' in my fictional world," she added.

...one-one-two-two, boogie, woogie, avenue...
I was at a sci-fi convnention a couple of months back, and in the HP panel they had, the started off with "Okay, I think we can all agree that (mumblemumble) is dead . . ."
Hello?? No, we can't all agree. Okay, maybe (mumblemumble) might die in Book 7, maybe *has* to die for reasons you mention, but I don't think (mumblemumble) is dead.
"Dead is Dead in the Rowling universe and there is no coming back from Dead."
Agreed, but you aren't listening to me.
I tried saying something along the way that I don't think that (blabberblabber) killed (mumblemumble), but before I could state why, I got the retort: "So what killed (mumblemumble)? did the fall break (pronoun) hip?"
Sigh. Okay, don't listen.

mumblemumbles added for anyone who hasn't finished book 6. sorry, but I assume prepublication rumors led everyone to know that someone dies in this book. Or do they???????
Thanks.
They both were kind of suspended in mid-air and then fell.
Not the typical reaction to the AK curse.
The rats in my barn sort of do this when I use it on them.
Snape is an interesting antagonist....
Then, I picked up the GoF and I read the last three books back to back in about a week. They were so good. I was completly surprised when (okay, I'll go along!) blabberblabber killed mumblemumble because I was convinced blabberblabber was a good guy. So I did a search to see what other people thought of THBP and found an article by John Granger:
Now, since I am new to HP, this may be old news but I thought it was very interesting. He seems to know his stuff. And his articles helped explain to me why HP and Voldemort are so closely linked (Is Harry a Horcrux?) and why blabberblabber killed mumblemumble.
I don't think Snape is evil or a double-agent for the Death Eaters because that would make Dumbledore the biggest dupe in the series.
I didn't hate GoF, but I was disappointed in it. (First of all, the actual GoF has little to do with the book, but I guess it sounds better than "... and the Tri-Wizard Tournament".) It had its good points, but I just didn't like the whole tourney setup. The reversal on elves liking their captivity annoyed me, too. The movie was worse than the book because Harry didn't actually seem to learn anything or discover anything. He seems to be pulled along by the events happening around him. Yes, that happens in real life, but at least in the book, he made some choices that mattered.
I did like in the book that she did something with the fact that they both had wands with tail feathers from the same pheonix.
Yes, I have to reread GoF and everything afterward. I read THBP in less than a week starting the night it came out. I read fast so I could pass it along, so I missed stuff. (And I was, at first, quite annoyed at the ending, but am now willing to admit that I'd been taking in and things are not as they appear.)
I'm looking for Neville to shine in the last book, but he's not going to take on Voldemort. He has his own nemesis to worry about. (There was some interesting -- by which I mean "stupid" -- comparisons made at that panel by people saying that "Frodo wasn't the one who destroyed the Ring" meaning that Harry might not be the one who defeats Voldemort. Hello?? If it isn't him, then the wrong name is in the title of the series.)
Hmmm, anything else?
Oh, yeah. I don't think that the Dursleys are an Evil Fat Family. They are a loving, albeit dysfunctional, family who just happens to prefer their own and don't consider their nephew to be one of their own. (And Mr. Dursley is only his uncle by marriage, so he's freer to be flippant about it.)

/sarcasm
Well, Voldemort is undead, so of course he's thin :-).
Mrs. Weasley, whom we're obviously supposed to like, is plump, which blows the "bad fat people" theory.
I agree. I think Snape is the most complex and unpredictable character in the series.
I think blabberblabber killed mumblemumble because blabberblabber is in love with Narcissa Malfoy.
Great article. Thanks for posting the link. :)
A thread about Harry Potter that has turned interesting.
J., the link to the article I was reading is in post 28. If you comment, be sure to maintain (mumble, blather) discretion.
This article is one of my favorite. Especially the section on Stoppered Death. I think he's got some great insight and another reason why I think Snape is a good guy - even a hero. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it after you read it.
Oh, great! Spoil it for me!!

(whoaboy, I think I started sumt'ing with this mumblemubmle stuff . . . )
Yes, retrokitten is the HP ping list keeper.
