I read the book and it read like someone's description of an "adventure" game he played on a computer once. You know the kind where you have to go somewhere and get something and it'll have a clue on it and if you aren't careful you'll get killed by some booby trap or ogre hiding under the stairs.

the part I love most was that the payoff was these "descendents" of Jesus hiding after 2000 years. Sheesh, few people can trace their lineage back 200 years. It was clearly bs from start to finish...who could take it seriously?

Which is a notion that Brown stole from the book 'Holy Grail Holy Blood' which came out in the 1970s or early 1980s. Another book that claimed Christ married Mary M. and their lineal descendants became the Kings of France (Also I see to remember the book claimed Charles DeGaule was a descendant!)
I tried to read the book and found it to be a mish-mash of Gnosticism, New Age Voo-Doo, etc. built on a very flimsy framework of a few historical facts.
Brown claiming its all real history is a marketing gimmick!
