The DJ is Conservative Talk Show Host Mark Simone. For those of us who grew up in the NY, NJ Metropolitan Area during the 60's and 70's , we all remember listening to, what are now considered oldies, on our transistor radios. Mark Simone has been hosting this show now for about 6 months and is doing a great job. He's interviewing the old singers, playing the old commercials, reminiscing about the culture of that time. It's a great show. Try to catch it..
It's on from 6 - 10 pm EST every Saturday Night.

Thanks for the link. I had no idea they were doing this regularly now. I'm only 26, but I'm a "jingle freak," so I love the throwback broadcasts.

Thanks for the tip. I was a teenager in the 70s in Westchester County and WABC was on our radios most of the time.

I used to listen to Cousin Brucie on WABC from the Metro DC area - WABC had a strong signal.

Thanks for this thread, Coleus! WABC was my "beach station" back when I was growing up in CT (I was too young to remember WABC when I lived in NJ).
When I was a teenager hanging out on CT and RI beaches during the summer, WABC was the station of choice for music in the 70s. It came in loud and clear over Long Island Sound (but not at my house up in the Hartford area). Everybody on the beaches had the same radio station blaring on their AM radios... LOL.
I remember WABC's funny old jingles, echo-chamber sound, "The WABCDegrees" weather report, Ron Lundy, Dan Ingram, Cousin Brucie and Johnny Donovan. Ahhh... memories... :o)
Yikes - am I dating myself or WHAT?!
I assume they'll do a "WABC Rewound" this Memorial Day weekend?

Ugh, get this dingbat lib Linda Ronstadt off the air. My husband grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. He just said when Gov. Moonbeam (Jerry Brown) was dating Ronstadt, she used to freak him out because she tried to act like a little girl... still had tea parties with her dolls. Yeesh...

XM radio will sometimes do this on the 60's channel.
They did the old stuff from WLS Chicago radio.
For those of us in the midwest WLS had a range of about 400 miles.

There are some good oldies shows out there, some of which are online. For example, Ron Dwyer's Sat night show on WCIB (Falmouth/Cape Cod, MA). A few weeks back he played a great ext. remix of "Reach Out I'll Be There" and a bunch of other
tunes you haven't heard in awhile...Also on WATD Marshfield MA

Once in awhile I get tapes of CHUM (Toronto) which has a good Sunday morning oldies show. He (Roger Ashby) does a behind-the-song feature and will play some songs that were hits on the Canadian chart but not US.

I've been listening for a few weeks. Great stuff, and Mark's a maven (and a stolid conservative, too).
