I live just north of Atlanta (we like to call it North Georgia))

About 3 years ago I was up at 5:00 am. Husband just left for work. I heard creaking upstairs & thought "Who the hell is up that early?"

The creaking noise then traveled from the upstairs->main floor->basement. I called my husband's cellphone and told him I thought we had an earthquake.

He told me I was crazy. I got to call him later and make sure he knew I WAS RIGHT! LOL!

It was so weird. I never felt a tremor, but could hear the sound travel from the top of the house to the basement. My nephew was knocked out of bed at his house.

The Loma Prieta quake knocked about two feet out of my swimming pool. The water swayed back and forth for about thirty minutes.

Scariest day of my life!

Sorry about the OT.....

Took me a year after moving here to not startle and look for my "safe" spot whenever there was "movement".
