I don't think they would have known nor would she have said, even if she knew, who the john actually was. No, I think it's her pimp or boyfriend, who may be one and the same person. Other people would know his name, so she wouldn't be able to hide it, especially if she lives with him. Since she has no license, she may even have her car registered to him so that the car can be insured. There could be lots of ways that her name is connected to his, including phone records, so it's not like she can hide who and where he is. When the other DNA popped up, they must have called him in for a swab, simple as that. They would have interviewed him at the same time they took the cheek swab, so it will be interesting if he said they hadn't had sex shortly before the alleged rape. If he did lie, since there's proof of it, I can see the defense raising the spectre of collusion to frame these guys and him being the one who beat and or drugged her as part of that plan. So, if he lied, it's a huge bonus to the defense.
