The book is not nothing if millions believe it is true. The film is not nothing if a major star and a major director choose to film it. Millions of people believe that Fahrenheit 9/11 is history. Million of people still believe what Oliver Stone told them is history. Long ago, millions of people believed that "Birth of a Nation" was the truth, and that belief led to the recreation of the KKK. Within ten years, the Klan numbered in the millions and blacks, Jews and Catholics all felt the sting of the lash. Movies have a great capacity to create myths, and this film presents the Gnostic myth.

I've never met a single person who thinks Stone's fever dreams are works of historical research any more then Shakespeare's history plays are beholden to the historical record.
