Kevin Miller said that the "sperm" donor is "well known" in Durham.

THAT's interesting. Given he is: a) not a student and b) 'well known in Durham' we can rule out the theory of 'well known' soley to the Durham PD. I.E. just someone with a criminal record.

But why would this person's DNA be avail. to do a match in the first place. Who would be in a DNA database, of not for prior criminal activity?

I'm at a loss about who it could be; I wonder if we will be shocked. In fact, in this case, I wonder if there is ANYTHING that will shock us now.

Wouldn't members of the police department be in the database so that if they're investigating a crime, their found DNA could be eliminated just in case they accidently contaminated the evidence?

I'm not an investigator, but that just makes sense to me.
