So that's a good question. Is this a one-time dirty deal to get elected or is he routinely this mendacious?

The students at Duke are fortunate because they or their families have assets to hire competent lawyers. But because of the sloppy way this case has been handled, the indictments of other people in Durham needs much closer scrutiny and the grand jury system in Durham needs to be investigated.

I am not a severe critic of the grand jury system, and it does serve a good purpose. However, when people are being indicted on flimsy evidence, the system's fairness needs to be questioned and one wonders whether it's time to place restrictions on it.

One other disturbing question I have read on the various threads is similar to this: "In how many other jurisdictions in this nation do they have runaway District Attorneys who use the grand jury system to persecute instead of prosecute?"
