Saw a very good show on Discovery or something and wow did it show in the end that the entire basis for the Davinci code was a fraud. I mean a guy who was a total admitted fraud who made up the key parts of this thing, none of which checked out. But the author continues to cite that guy and his "evidence" as the basis.
I have no problem with the film being shown even though I'm Christian. I just think it is a double standard.
A man named Pierre Plantard forged documents purporting that Jesus and Mary Magdalene has children whose descendants became the royal family of France. Plantard seeded various archives with these forgeries, then arranged for his cohorts to "discover" them. It was a hoax that forms the supposed "factual" basis for Brown's novel.
All of this is in the service of persuading people that Christian sexual morality is a lie, imposed on us power-mad, killjoy priests.
I saw it too, and it was shown that the "code" was 100% fabrication. It was a wonderful show, and very enlightening. It pulled no punches, and debunked every bit of this fiction, piece by piece!
