Red Sox v Yankees--The Holy War Continues
05/09/06 | misterrob

The saga continues in the Bronx this week. The Sox send out Beckett, Wakefield and Schilling. The Yankees counter with Randy Johnson, Mike Mussina and Shawn Chacon.

The New York Post ran a back cover story questioning why anyone has not dared to throw at David Ortiz.. (maybe because he is 6' 4" and weighs 250 lbs) Sox offseason pickup Josh Beckett returns to Yankee Stadium for the first time since Game 6 of the 2003 World Series.

Series returns to NY after an abbreviated series last week in Boston where Boston fans expressed their true feelings about Johnny Damon.

I know... amazing games, weren't they? For once I managed to see on TV or hear (on the radio) parts of all three Yankees-Mets games this weekend. I'm still stunned over Saturday's game... all that great pitching by Pedro amounted to nothing.

Crap... 3-0 Yankees. C'mon, Red Sox... you're playing the compromised Spankees!

Abe needs to learn how to throw a better curveball. And, if you can change speeds as much as 12 mph between pitches and move the ball around you can actually pitch at the major league level. I think he needs a few more years before we write him off. He's only 24. Plus, it seems that a lot of LHPs take longer to develop than RHPs.

Thanks for your thoughts on Abe Alvarez. I never knew that fact about LHPs vs RHPs... thanks. I didn't mean to suggest that we write him off already, just that he obviously isn't ready for prime time yet. I guess I had heard - or thought for some reason - that he was farther along than he apparently is...

Hey, the Sox are playing Harris and Mirabeli tonight. At best that's a 1-8 night.

Has anyone said "Yankees Suck" yet? If not, consider it said.

He has not pitched much lately and that can hurt.

And, I thought it was an odd comment about the LHPs taking longer to develop but Jerry Remy made that observation last year when talking about Bruce Chen.

Did you see last night's game, SE Mom? A nearly perfect game! Tonight's game is not so perfect... :-(

Grrr... no kidding. My husband is grumbling that Harris has no business being on this team, that he is strictly minor league...

This last one was worse. Wake comes apart and Gay-Rod homers.

I'm done for the night.

Wait a minute... Manny just hit a beautiful homer right into Section 34! 7-4 Yankees bottom of the 7th...
