The saga continues in the Bronx this week. The Sox send out Beckett, Wakefield and Schilling. The Yankees counter with Randy Johnson, Mike Mussina and Shawn Chacon.
The New York Post ran a back cover story questioning why anyone has not dared to throw at David Ortiz.. (maybe because he is 6' 4" and weighs 250 lbs) Sox offseason pickup Josh Beckett returns to Yankee Stadium for the first time since Game 6 of the 2003 World Series.
Series returns to NY after an abbreviated series last week in Boston where Boston fans expressed their true feelings about Johnny Damon.
Watching the Red Sox beating the MFY never gets old, NEVER.
You know everyone's going to be asking for Philip Hughes.
Honestly, that's too bad about Godzilla. He may be a Yankee, but even this Sox die-hard can admit he's a hell of a player. I certainly hope they don't get Abreu, though.
"He's got nothing to trade and frankly they should be playing Crosby. He's got wheels and can throw some leather"
Trade?!
See tagline...
Looks like Tori Hunter may kneel and kiss the ring.
The Yanks were "percentage points" ahead of the Red Sox, basically because we have played a different total of games so far than the Yanks.
They will ask for Cano if the Yanks want someone like Abreu-- and maybe even Hunter. Actually, the best move the Yanks could make is to trade with us for Trot Nixon! He's a quality corner outfielder in the final year of his contract at a price the Yanks can easily afford and we need to get regular ABs for WMP. Too bad for them we hate each other.
Wow. .217/.282/.264
Fugly.
What's that?
Trot a Yankee? What to do with Sheffield?
They don't need Matsui to win. Crosby is fine. Besides, Randy Johnson, Chacon and Procter looked like the problem in this series.
No pitching, no chance of winning.
Well apparently he ripped Schilling for going to the hospital last night before the game in his column today. He got so torched today on WEEI that he had to call in to defend himself which has made it even worse.
Damon claims his shoulder is banged up too. Although he always complains about his shoulder.
Yankees and Red Sox are like two third world countries when the world has the super power White Sox.
Matsui's injury should show how big of a freak Cal Ripken and Lou Gehrig are.
Matsui (if you count his Japan games) was still 400 games behind the Iron Horse and nearly 1000 behind Ripken.
Amazing.
Yes, Bubba Crosby is a great player. He's even raised his career OPS to .580, and climbing!
The ChiSox are a good team, but no super power loses three games to the Royals in the first month and a half. It's a commentary on the weakness of the AL Central that the Royals are 10-14 vs their division, 0-8 vs everyone else.
Once again you add nothing to the conversation Johnny Zero. Crosby is more than adequate on defense and if the Yankees cannot win without having to trade top prospects in order to replace him then I guess they suck more than anyone could have suspected.
Go pee on someone else's shoe.
He is a grade A butthole. He is nothing but a parasite who lives to stir up crap.
Great! So is Willie Harris.
if the Yankees cannot win without having to trade top prospects in order to replace him
Even the worst rookie league left fielder could not singlehandedly turn a good team to a losing one, so that's a moronic suggestion.
But playing Crosby and Bernie and Cairo every day will surely cost the Yankees wins. The obvious move would be to call up Carlos Pena -- at least he'd provide a decent DH and relegate Cairo to his utility role.
It's official. Randy Johnson sucks, and Mo might suck, too.
Big Useless: 5.62 ERA, 5-4 in 10 starts
Mo: 3.38 ERA (for a closer!), 8/9 in save opps, 1-3 record
Posada left tonight's game with back spasms
Pavano needs arm surgery and could be out all season
Sheffield still on DL with hand bruise
Matsui likely out for regular season with broken wrist
Crosby on DL with hamstring issues
Sturtze out for season after shoulder surgery
Chacon will miss 1 start with welt under knee
Damon struggling at the plate after hot start while dealing with broken bone in foot
