Strictly speaking this is not a leak by the DPD.

Oh, he reveled in the hearings and the tawdry testimony.
I don't want to know what might have been going on under the table where Joe was sitting.

I don't know the other candidates, but that was the impression I got from Freepers who do. Evidently the three candidates were Bad, Worse, and Worst.
It's like Landrieux running against Nagin for Mayor of New Orleans. Nagin may be a spaced-out drug addict who screwed up in the clinch, but at least he's amusing. Landrieux is efficiently corrupt, which is much worse.

"Tis amazing what poor choices some folks get to make. My real question is this...if all the choices are bad, worse, and even worse, then where are the decent folks and why are they not running? Isn't that abdicating their responsibilities to their own damned community? Is it no wonder we get clowns like Nagin, Blanco, and dirtbags like the Durham D.A.? If the good folks run and hide, then the rats continue on their merry way and screw up society.

Westerfield's attorney was in the process of negotiating a guilty plea in exchange for a life sentence if he told the cops the location of the body. Prosecutor backed out when they found the body Danielle's body prior to making the deal. The real crux was that Westerfield and his lawyers, after working on a plea agreement that was nixed after the body was independently found, tried their case on the angle that Westerfield was innocent. I may be wrong but I believe the lawyers were sanctioned or disbarred.

The real crux was that Westerfield and his lawyers, after working on a plea agreement that was nixed after the body was independently found, tried their case on the angle that Westerfield was innocent. I may be wrong but I believe the lawyers were sanctioned or disbarred. Westerfield's attorney never said Westerfield was innocent. don't even recall him saying Westerfield was not guilty.
In fact, I think Westerfield's attorney intentionallay sabotaged part of the defense by making claims which allowed the prosecutor and judge to get all the child porn images entered into evidence. Westerfield's attorney did nothing more than require the prosecutor to prove his case. He did nothing unethical.
