Only in academia could they conclude that the problem was insufficient diversity, and glorify Brodhead for his rash actions at the expense of his students and university.

It's quite shocking, IMO.

Having read the report in more detail, it really is just more garbage. Basically, they are saying that Duke did not respond quicker because leadership was too white, but then excused Brodhead because he did not know the race of the accuser. The whining in the report is unbelievable. Typical "it's not the truthfulness of hte charge but hte seriousness of the allegation." The report never even entertains the possibility that the LAX players may not be guilty of anything except bad judgment common for sollege kids. The significance of the report is the early police statements the accuser made that she was gang raped by 20 guys. A competent defense attorney will destroy this accuser's story. However, the self-flaggelation in the report is useless except at Faculty cocktail parties.

The report mentions in passing that the LAX team felt abandoned after Duke dumped Pressler for what turned out to be false grounds. Gee, why would the LAX team feel abandoned? Could it be because Duke made it appear to the world that every member of that team was guilty of gang rape or aiding and abetting a gang rape?

As an Alum, I am so frustrated with this situation it's ridiculous. Here's a suggestion: every Duke student must live on campus and report to their RA whenever they venture into Durham. This is not going to get better as long as the current Duke and DUrham leadership is in place.
