I have been around pit bull dogs for 30 years and I can say that there is an element to their mentality that is probably best described as that of primal instinct from the wild dogs all domestic canine were derived from.

They often display the attack trait without mental restraint of every other breed that I know of. I am sure that trait can be used for good, but IMHO they should only be used as domestic pets or residential guards with the most strict control and owners fully liable.
