This is something we can do without having to take off work, coordinate, organize. We insist that our dollars do not subsidize illegal immigration. A list can be compiled here if necessary of firms that notoriously hire illegals.
But even at the individual level, if we contact a landscaping firm, ask if the workers are legal. They would have to know if they have social security numbers. If they hem and haw, call another number. Same goes for other businesses. Does a local grocery employ people who don't speak a word of English? Ask the manager as to their status. Refuse to answer? Refuse to patronize.
That's called grassroots pressure. Let the illegals -- and the business that dangle the economic carrots that draw them here -- feel THAT.
Given that the politicians will not listen to us, let us then vote with our dollars against illegal immigration.
It's something each and every one of us can do.
Tyson is a big one, I heard that many meat-packing plants were shut down yesterday. I have heard the names of several rattled off on the radio yesterday but do not remember them all now.
I have enjoyed going to "Chipolte" after a long week of work, but think I should quit going there. I noticed the last time I went several weeks ago there were more people on the line who had English as their first language.
I know of a prominent conservative family here in the DC area that hasn't a care in the world that he has people who are likely illegals mowing his lawn, washing his car and raising his children. That is wrong.

He already is. He and his wife are lawyers. His father is a judge. I on the otherhand have barely a pot to p*ss in. No thank you. The point is, if we are going to hold certain values, the least we can do is be judicious on how we spend our money.
For example, one of the main reasons I'm against abusing substances that profit drug lords is because...it profits drug lords.
I certainly hope that others are compiling lists/investigating companies that exploit illegal workers. The fact is, even if the jobs are not in your sector, a labor surplus tends to depress wages across the spectrum.
If the illegals weren't here, the wages would be higher and Americans would be willing to do them. Or, a financial incentive would be in place to mechanize labor-intensive work.
We who suffer the consequences for this do not enjoy the support of corporations that would like to keep wages low and demagogs who see a growing pool of uneducated masses [who are unaccustomed to resisting authority] as a potential consituency to feed from the public teat -- with OUR money!!
No, let us vote with our dollars in our own quiet way. The least we can do is that.
Chipolte here (Twin Cities) was boasting on TV last night about having given their illegals yesterday off.
...and if they're NOT illegals, that must mean they're pro-illegal sympathizers or commie("May Day") sympathizers;either way I'm not doing business there any more.
