I agree. We can only take solace in the fact that it was a very narrow race. Also, Black hasn't conceded yet.

Actually, the governor appointed Nifong on Hardin's recommendation of Nifong because he was the most senior person in the office.

Speaking of which, why did Nifong fire Black and why does he hate her so much? Anybody know?

Yes, the Guilfoyle and Filan types keep insisting Nifong must have something else are in for a big let-down.

If the cops are against Nifong on this, then it's almost a sure thing Nifong intends to dismiss the charges. He can't have a cop on the stand explaining under cross-examination that the DA ordered him to violate procedure in order to secure the identifications. You see, the identifications were Nifong's fallback position when the DNA didn't pan out and he needed the arrests BEFORE the election.

The DA actually said this and Abrams played the press conference at which Nifong said it:

The short answer is no. You have to understand, obviously the defense attorneys would prefer to try the case against someone less experienced than I am or someone less committed to the case than I am. If I was one of those attorneys, I wouldn't want to try a case against me either.

Great summation of this whole mess!

Apparently, despite all the crime in Durham, no one believes that their children are gang members, drug dealers, pimps and ho's. Durham is a city in denail, all too ready to blame others for its failures.

Grand juries use to be the check on the prosecutor's power, but it's been many decades since that was the case. Indicting GJs do much more harm than good now because they have become the rubber stamp for the DA, which is exactly the opposite of their original purpose. A few states have done away with them altogether and many states, such as CA (and a lot of others), use them rarely.

If the female student lived in a single (only person in the dorm room) or, her roomie didn't come home for awhile, and obviously, the guy who tucked her in would not have taken her dorm room key with him (iow, the dorm room door was left unlocked), who knows who else might have entered the room?

Dan Abrams said on his show today that he has seen the DNA report and that the report contained DNA results that were inconclusive and possible mixtures of DNA that remain inconclusive. According to WRAL Nifong said it was the SBI who recommended further testing of the DNA.

The issue in the US which can plainly be seen from this case is that US colleges are hostile to males including male students

This has been a growing problem since the early 70s. It's the classic Dem Warfare of "divide".

First, let's decide that all curriculum is "hostile" to females. Let's make sure the chatty girls (natural) are given "multiple choice" questions (like the Duke "line-up). Then, let's make sure that all sports and recesses are CUT for little boys so they get antsy and we can drug 'em! And if we drug with the right drugs, they'll never be allowed into certain types of professions, and because those ole' drugs'll be on their records! Their MEDICAL Records.

Then, let's make sure that every campus has a hoary "screech" factor.. oh a classic male-bashing Feminist acting as the Red Queen, shouting "off with your head" to any male teacher or administrator if the "she" doesn't get her way.

Then! YES! Let's posit no fault divorce and extort huge "not really welfare" in the alimony and child custody system. Oh Dang. If boys get lots of exercise they are peaceful! Let's cut down on the amounts of sports programs by declaring that SuperBowl Sunday encourages "domestic violence".

Then, let's make sure we put the word out that women can say and do whatever they want, and never have to be responsible, like men are. Yeah! Let's encourage women to tell their violent boyfriends to F-OFF! That'll show how assertive she is. Then we he gets riled, let's label his angry reply as "domestic violence". Groovy! The public fell for that. NOW, let's create.. "hostile environments" to be used only against men, so that women can continue their abusive, I mean "assertive" anti-male, embezzelment types of behaviors? And let's make sure, that when the crap hits the fan... only the decent, honorable women get nailed "wearing" the excesses, or enduring the anti-female bashing from the same guys who'd rape another man as a woman, who'd beat another man as he would a woman.

But most important -- it is important that only honorable men get the slammer for crimes NOT committed... and that the genuine crap-males running through the country get some "he was a victim" light sentence. He had an abusive mother. She created a woman-hater, but it wasn't her fault she raised a "woman hater" -- it's "THE MAN'S fault". It wasn't his fault he beat and raped those women!

Truth is, who has been doing most the rearing of children? Women. Who raises boys to hate women? uh... That's it -- THE SYSTEM. uh-huh.

And here we are today... let's blame Bush for "cutting" our funding to promote our "specialness" programs all around the world.

And I haven't even gotten going on the inherent "lies" within the Preferential Affirmative Action policies: Quotas.

Hitler, at least, just started with a tiny country called Germany...

Rant off. I'm with ya, JLS! lol. Been on this page since the 70s.

If they're re-testing what was previously collected, then there's probably no concern. The more refined tests tend to confirm prior results.

I expect Nifong is spinning what SBI said with regard to further testing. They probably said that further testing might be beneficial, so he has spun that to be a recommendation from them.

As for the mixture of DNA under the nails, i expect that's what's being re-tested. When they get the results, I think Nifong has a duty to identify whose DNA is under those nails.

I forgot to mention that I think Nifong went forward with the additional testing to appease the black vote and keep the case viable in the minds of his voters.

Must be nuts living like that in such a self-absorbed way. I remember the case. I wondered if the Mother Ship would rescue her from the airplane if she complained, properly.

Thanks, Publius! And your stories add weight to the realities of the race and class angle that Nifong fed on to get elected.

The chick, having been at a pot and booze party, staggers back to her dorm with help from a male. She claims she was raped but can't remember it. "fluid" was collected from her.

Interesting. I come from the land where some children are conceived by "turkey basters". What else does this woman not remember? Egads.. Of course it's always the guy's "fault", any guy's fault. Brother.

There's some heavy duty pot out there. Anyone seriously think there'd be any move afoot to ban "pot at parties"? lol.
