A free version of Linspire has been a long time in coming, Carmony said, but there's a reason why his company has waited until now to implement the project. Simply put, Linspire did not feel the market was ready for a community-driven distro that included proprietary software.

Uh, does this mean I'll need a former fry cook to authorize it's use, ala Big Brother XP?
