The Kids These Days often will never know about these movies in the original. Plus, social mores have changed so much that they can't relate to them, so they do remakes.
BTW, what do you suppose N. Simon was saying with that film? The ending has Lenny in a solemn, staid Minnesota wedding, I recall without any of his family. Maybe foreshadowing an unhappily ever after scenario, or a warning against buying into the Jewish-guy/WASP-girl stereotypes.
