The woman who says she was raped by three members of Duke's lacrosse team also told police 10 years ago she was raped by three men, filing a 1996 complaint claiming she had been assaulted three years earlier when she was 14. Authorities in nearby Creedmoor said Thursday that none of the men named in the decade-old report was ever charged but they didn't have details why. A phone number for the accuser has been disconnected and her family declined to comment to The Associated Press. But relatives told Essence magazine in an online story this week that the woman declined to pursue the case out of fear for her safety. The existence of the report surprised defense attorneys, one of whom has sought information about the accuser's past for use in attacking her credibility. "That's the very first I've heard of that," said Bill Cotter, the attorney for indicted lacrosse player Collin Finnerty, who along with fellow Duke sophomore Reade Seligmann is charged with first-degree rape, kidnapping and sexual assault. He declined additional comment. Attorneys for Seligmann asked the court this week to order the state to turn over the accuser's medical, legal and education records, and hold a pretrial hearing to "determine if the complaining witness is even credible enough to provide reliable testimony." The accuser, a 27-year-old student at North Carolina Central University in Durham, told police she was hired to perform as a stripper at a March 13 party, where she was raped by three men. According to the Creedmoor police report in August 1996, when the woman was 18, she told officers she was raped and beaten by three men "for a continual time" in 1993, when she was 14. She told police she was attacked at an "unspecified location" on a street in Creedmoor, a town 15 miles northeast of Durham. The report lists the names of the three men, but no other details. Creedmoor police Chief Ted Pollard said Thursday he had no recollection of the report, and his staff has been unable to find any additional information about it. Durham police Officer Brian Bishop, who interviewed the accuser in 1996 while working on the Creedmoor force, said Thursday he had a vague recollection of the report but couldn't remember any details. When asked about the accuser's previous report of rape, Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong declined to comment. Before Seligmann and Finnerty were indicted, attorneys for the players pointed to the accuser's criminal history when answering questions about their clients' legal troubles. The woman pleaded guilty to several misdemeanors in 2002.
Reporter: It's a family in a lot of pain and believes in their daughter and thinks in her mind and heart she's been victimized.
------
What the heck does *that* mean!
Yes pain is more important than the truth, I guess. BTW..wonder how much pain the parents of Colin and Reade feel about now!
Sounded to me like he was digging a deeper grave.
Ridiculous.
Greta: Time magazine reporter, Greg, asked about discrepancy about color of car.
Greg: Prosecutors are looking how to poke holes in Defense evidence and this is an area. The pictures, timestamped, it's the idea that timestamps can be altered in the hard drive. This is more computer or inside where you can alter those. It's an idea of casting doubt. (Greg isn't well spoken and in fact, is an idiot).
The picture shows the dancer leaving the party getting into a car, a dark colored car.
Greta: The cab driver says he came back from taking Seligmann and saw the hookers/oops, strippers, getting into an old white car after having words with players. He says the car lurched close to him and drove off hurriedly. The cab driver has made that statement officially to Durham police . It's not the first time a white car has been talked about.
Greta: Kim arrives in white car. Accuser arrives separately. They leave in a white or dark car?
Reporter: It's confusing. It's not being put forward that both got into the black or white car because the cab driver isn't swearing he saw both women in the car. Can doubt be cast on sequence of events.
Greta: When accuser arrived, is there anyone you spoke to who says she arrived in a dark car?
Reporter: I won't say there's been a lot of reporting as to Kim's arrival as much as the accuser's arrival and drop off. It's murky.
Thanks!!!
LOL. Good point.
But how did Kim get to the Kroger in a dark car if she left the house in a white car?
Oh, are they stretching!
There willl be more pictures. Where's the video? :)
Have to say that explanation sounds reasonable. My bf would have ripped their faces off. I would have bought a rifle. BAM(with apologies to Emeril).
Do we know for sure there's video or just think there probably is?
The things we have to believe in order to believe her are unbelievable. LOL
Don't strippers have bodyguards, or something. Maybe the white car, if there was one, belonged to the AV's boyfriend.
Kim was ticked that pictures were taken, and she heard claims there may be a video.
I believe that I read earlier that the Chief has prostate cancer and was working a very limited amount of time per week.
She still doesn't get it.
But no doubts she'll find a way to write even yet another book.. the "lament of womanhood in America" and totally misrepresent those she's pretending to speak for.
This Duke/LAX event is just another PR opportunity for her. Pure and simple. Ka-Ching!
Why isn't Greta or someone bringing up the dark car at the Kroger?
Ted Williams: We don't know if the photos are fake or not. (Forgetting conveniently two forensics experts have looked at them and consider them accurate).
Jeff : Nobody is saying the photos are doctored but we're trying to determine where she went for an hour. Did she go dance somewhere else and a rape occurred there, if a rape occurred.
Greta: The pic isn't insignificant. It would take a lot more planning to doctor the photo but if it's a pic of her arriving vs. departing, it's not an insignificant matter.
The defense is leaning heavily on the timeline.
Greta: Bernie told us how bad it is to put your timeline out there to prosecutors. YOu said it 5 nights ago.
Bernie: When you have an alibi, this airtight, you don't disclose it until they make an alibi demand.
Greta: Kim gets there in a white car and leaves in a white car. But now there's a picture of the accuser in a dark car.
Greta: I don't know if there's evidence that Kim had a white car. Now I've confused myself. I don't remember.
NO ONE KNOWS ON THE PANEL. LOL
He has prostate cancer too? I knew Nifong had it earlier. The police chief seemed to be active until about two weeks ago.
Right! I'd forgotten that; thanks for the reminder.
Greta: YOu think this is totally political?
Ted: Yes and he shouldn't have brought the case as fast as he did.
Greg: That's not what you said originally; you called for their heads on a platter.
Ted: I don't know if there was a rape or not.
