Ok I know my tagline say that the problem with bad ideas is that they seemed like good ideas at the time but what part of spanking people at work sounded like a good idea at the time?

"Team-building" is evil. Generally it's just a way for middle management to humiliate the employees while getting bonuses from the top executives for being "proactive."

Of course, the last team-building exercise I was on was seventeen years ago. And we ended up doing $3,000 of damage to the hotel and conference center...

Because it's meant to humiliate them without any hint of seriousness-- to keep them from being late, etc. Like standing in a corner or wearing a stupid hat. Except spanking adults with soft paper signs is funnier.
