Because it's meant to humiliate them without any hint of seriousness-- to keep them from being late, etc. Like standing in a corner or wearing a stupid hat. Except spanking adults with soft paper signs is funnier.

The spanking as motivation for sales force is a stupid practice. The workers should complain, threaten to leave, even leak it to the press. But no lawsuits or criminal complaints, please.

I tell you I gotta plead ingnorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing was frouned upon, you know, cause I've worked in a lot of offices and I tell you peope do that all the time.
Boss: You're fired.
George: Well you didn't have to say it like that.
Boss: I want you out of here by the end of the day.
