Couldn't they just have walked away from her until she wore out? Maybe she was throwing these things or something? Still sounds strange.

Hindsight is 20/20, but pepper-spray or mace would have been a better choice for someone confined to a wheel chair. She'd have to drop her weapons to cover/rub her eyes.

The cops involved and the maker of the taser gun had better hope that the autopsy shows some kind of serious,pre-existing condition...like serious heart disease.
Otherwise, these cops have a serious problem and some lawyer is gonna get awfully rich suing everyone in sight.

Tasers deliver a 50,000-volt jolt through two barbed darts that can penetrate clothing. Big deal. How many amps?

How hard is it to kick a wheelchair over?
A stun gun is a little over the top.
Part of the problem is that many cops have accepted as fact that a stun gun is a non-leathal weapon.

A woman in a wheelchair who swung knives and a hammer at relatives and police...I AM SPECULATING HERE, but I'll bet these people will complain that the police used excessive force and should have handled the situation differently.........and that these are the EXACT SAME people who called the police because they could not handle the situation themselves!!!!!

Wheel her in to the garage and shut the door. Push the wheelchair in to the pool. Tip it over. Spray her with the hose. Pepper spray her. Throw laxitative pills in her open mouth and wait. Park her next to a tree that needs trimming. Etc, etc. But instead taser her in a wheelchair? C'mon.....
Ever notice that the people you see getting tasered in all the stories about tasers on TV are all hulking young cops? I must have missed the older woman in the wheelchair testing.

Police used their taser guns more than 70,000 times last year. There were 61 deaths that involved taser guns last year. Lets do the math here. One in ever 1148 times someone died while or after being tasered. Or rather, you have a .0009% chances of dying from being tasered.

It seems that ever since they gave our officers Taser guns (here in Florida), they have a lot of misuse of them. Also, it seems that many people have died.

"an autopsy will be conducted to determine a cause of death".
Death by cop. I guess the young, tough cops couldn't handle an old woman in a wheelchair.
They should have called out the SWAT team. Armored car, bullet proof vests, stun grenades, tear gas, machineguns, masks over their faces...they could have handled it better.

56 znd in a wheel chair. This story reads queerly. The cops couldn't get behind her? They'll say its about going home at the end of the day but in a wheel chair.
