The only mention of Goths is in your post #2.

    "...process the tragedy..."

Never heard that phrase before.

RIP, those who were murdered.

In one photo, the girl can be seen holding a gun up to the camera -- professing her love for goth, punk and death-metal music. Quote is from the link in #1...

A 23-year-old man is also accused in the three deaths. His relationship to the 12-year-old co-accused is unclear.
 No....it's really not.

Didn't realize what was posted was an excerpt. Sorry!

I'm left wondering, though, how posing with a gun is "professing one's love for goth, punk, and death-metal music."

If you watch much court tv you'll find that in the Utopian Republic of Canuckistan the max you can get for your most henious multiple or serial murder conviction is 25 years in country club comfort. Hell these two will have plenty of time after they get out to get back together and move next door in sunny Dania Beach Florida and while still living off the Canuckee dole.

Not strictly true - the crown can move to have you declared a dangerous offender, which allows them to be kept in prison indefinitely, until it can be proven that they are no longer a risk. See Paul Bernardo, for example.

OTOH, since the girl in this case is 12 years old she's too young to be eligible to be tried as an adult and the maximum possible penalty she faces is 10 years. Don't know if young offenders can be declared dangerous offenders, although even if so it's probably pretty unlikely.

I went to junior high, so I'm not surprised that a 12-year-old would be capable of cold-blooded murder.

Sorry - the two articles are so similar that I missed that Goth was only mentioned in the second, linked one.

Agree the writing is awkward but, seemingly, along with the posed photo, fair indication was found on the girl's website of her "... love for goth, punk, and death-metal music."

 Neither article is an excerpt:
while it's odd both were on the National Post's website simultaneously, I posted/linked both because of some details - like the 'Goth' thing apparently - being exclusive to one or the other.

One kid's older brother actually hacked someone to death with a hatchet. He had dropped out of school by then though. But it kicked school stress up a notch.

"The 23-year-old man claimed to work in the government or military.

A friend of the 12-year-old said she met the older man over the Internet, but police would not comment on their relationship."

What do you want to bet that they were "seeing" each other, the parents objected (what parents wouldn't?) and they killed the parents?

We had some candidates for that as well.

Talk about taking something too far though. I know a lot of people who dress a little funny. Big deal. I know some nice people who wear black, but this one was a true little devil-wannabe. In fact, now that I think about it, this case has the words 'demon possession' written all over it.
