What happened to "innocent until proved guilty?"
Janie Weintraub was giving an explanation this morning ... but I don't like her or what she had to say so I can't report. ;)
If the guys were cited before, they may have entered a plea called a "Prayer for Judgement" or a PFJ-6, meaning they have to keep clean for 6 months, or they will be penalized for the original infraction PLUS the new one. The charge is wiped off the record after the 6 months period, as if the infraction never occurred. This is common in North Carolina, specifically on such things as speeding tickets, etc. but can be used on almost any case. It's sort of a "Guilty, but can I have 6 months probation and be good, and make this go away?"
