Article ignores the fact that the DA breached his duty by taking this to the press in the first place. All he should have said is "the incident is under investigation and I have no further comment". Blaming the defense lawyers for responding is disingenuous.

Not really...

But on the other hand, it was the Durham County prosecutor, Mike Nifong, who gave some 70 interviews in the weeks following the March 13 incident; Nifong even found time to appear at a "violence against women" event, held at a local black college, which could best be described as a "re-elect Nifong" campaign rally.

Fair enough. Note to self: next time read entire article. I've read so much completely one sided stuff lately that from the tone of the article I guess I just assumed they were going to put Nifong and the defense on an even footing as trying the case in the media.
