I have a real problem watching dramas/suspense shows or movies, knowing up front that the lead character will survice any and all dangerous activities...

What keeps us coming back is the knowledge that for once, the good guy wins. Oh, that and the body count. And the interesting way people die. And Chloe's super-cool geek ways. And wondering just how long Audrey is gonna last. And hoping we NEVER have to see Martha and Logan kiss again (ooohh, yuck! spitoooey! that was just gross!) And...well, see, there's lots of reasons we watch. (Oh, and the drinking game!)

Thanks for your replies. I'm still not convinced though... but thanks!

When I was a kid, I loved all of the super-hero shows - Batman, Superman, etc... The good guy always won, and that's fine and dandy... It just doesn't work as effectively any more.

Maybe I'm jaded, become cynical living in the NYC area most of my life... but, knowing that the lead character will survive any and all catastrophic events just doesn't appeal to me. I know many of you are addicted, and I appreciate the fact that you can overlook this...
