VANITY-HOW many of YOU check up on relatives on myspace?

Okay.....I was wondering if any of you keep tabs on any friends, relatives, etc. ANONYMOUSLY on myspace or any other site like that? You can pretend you are anybody on those kind of sites, and so, I'm wondering if it's a good place to check up on your kids, IF they're on it. Secondly, I'm concerned because a couple (female-young)relatives of ours are on that type space with their FULL NAMES and city's....isn't that a no-no?

Mine know they'd better not get on MySpace or else life as they know it will cease to exist. They claim their friends aren't on it, but who knows.

We have Spector Pro which logs every keystroke from our computer. They are well aware of it and say it's ok because their friend's parents also run such programs. BTW, so far it's proven it's worth but if anyone knows of any sneaky backdoor hacking for kids to get into Spector Pro, let me know.

Any person under 30 does what? Keeps tabs? Anonymously? Or posts? And, do they use their REAL names?

People can just read the web sites...you don't have to post an anonymous reply or anything. Just read what they've written (and be shocked).

I've read a Xanga site -- written by a friend's 19 yr. old son. Pretty rough stuff. I'm hoping the parents are not reading that trash. They'd be heartbroken.

In my experience, most younger people keep tabs anonymously on family, friends and acquaintances. MySpace and Facebook has made it easy and normal for most younger people to be stalkers.

And addressing your question from your vanity, most people do use their real names in the searchable profiles. And also most teenagers who use a computer have one. You should probably be concerned if they have shifty friends on there or are dressed inappropriately, but most use it just to keep in touch with their friends. Myspace became popular in my early 20s and I use it primarily to meet people and "stalk" friends. Many Freepers also gather there to join conservative groups, unbenownst to older non Myspace freepers.
