Not much is new here. Just teach, dissertation, work, dissertation, etc.

I think you a workaholic.
What have you been doing for fun lately, besides FReeping?

Have you ever pulled a good prank on someone? If you have, tell us about it.I'm not much of a practical joker, I just like to place the fake poop on the floor to see what people do.

Well, they changed the time and the day for the rally, so I decided last night not to go. It is now at 10 AM on Monday.
Which means that I would have to catch a Metro at 8 AM and fight the rush hour crush of humanity.
I also would have had to leave here on Sunday about 3 and rent a motel room and stay overnight, which I didn't want to do.
I don't know my way around D.C. very well. I have only been there twice in the last 12 years. I tried to talk a friend into going with me. He lives in Columbia, MD, but doesn't want to go.

That was a long time ago, about 1968.
Things used to get pretty crazy back in the "old days".

Ummm... Renting movies, watching TV, reading. I haven't been FReeping all that much lately.

In fifth grade I put a rubber snake on the teacher's chair.
She was pretty stunned for a while until she finally figured out it wasn't real.
I chased a guy around a laundramat one time with a rubber snake. He was the caretaker of the place.
He went into the back room and came out with a baseball bat and started chasing me.

What are you getting your doctorate in?
To: tuliptree76
Were any of the movies you rented any good?
When I was married my family used to hate watching movies with me. I would always tell them what was going to happen next and they would accuse me of having seen the movie before.
But I hadn't, it just gets so after watching so many movies in your life they become very predictable.
I even figured out the ending of "Repo Man", a very offbeat movie.

DC can be confusing, but the Metro is very efficient and well mapped. You're right, though; you don't want to be on it during rush hour.

Once when I was living in northern IL, I was driving on I-80 through Iowa listening to the radio. Someone sang a song that was about driving on I-80 in Iowa, and it went something like this:
"Mississippi River ... Davenport ... corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, What's that smell? Corn, corn, corn, Iowa City. Corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, look, a tree! Corn, corn, corn, Des Moines. Corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, there's that smell again. Corn, corn, corn, Council Bluffs ... Missouri River!"
I was laughing histerically.

The sad thing is, I met a BEAUTIFUL woman (and a fellow alumnus of the U of Chicago) just a month before my move. We're going to the Tulip Festival tomorrow as part of my last hurrah on this side of the country.
Bummer, man. Is there a way you can maintain a long distance relationship? I know if I were you, I hate to lose that opportunity.

I really liked the Smithsonian.
The Air and Space building alone took all day to go through.
But I liked the Museum of Natural History the best. They have all the famous jewels there, such as Napoleon's wifes' necklaces and the hope diamond and some find star sapphires.
All behind six inches of bullet-proof glass rigged to alarms with an armed guard in the room.

How's it goin??
Getting things together almost done. Only about 5 more things to do, in the next hour or two(lol!!)
Then, I'll be ready!!
I was once involved in making my own fireworks, too. I think I was 16 at the time. I recall taking about 50 regular firecrackers, pouring the powder from them into a capacitor can about 1"high, or so, and about 1-1/4" high, and packing it all in, rigging up about a FOOT of fuse, and lighting it and running......after about a minute, I figured nothing was going to happen. I was at least 50 feet from it, and started to walk back that way a bit. (Paul was with me too, then, IIRC). Then BOOM!!! I heard a LOUD boom and a flash of white light that looked about 2 feet across!!
