BTW, the news on the dryer isn't great, though I guess I could just do laundry while home and set a timer to remind myself to turn it off. *sigh*

Here's the note the guy sent.

The part in question is the timer. The part itself runs about $80 and if someone comes out to put it in, there would be a service charge on top of the part cost. So it's probably not cost effective to replace it. So here's what we can do, subject to your approval. You can either return the dryer to me and I'll refund the price of the dryer, or you can keep the dryer as is and I'll refund $40 for the inconvenience. I do apologize for the inconvenience; the washer and dryer had only been in the garage since January and they were working fine prior to that at the other house. Maybe something popped loose during the move. In any case, let me know what you would like to do. Thanks.

I'd take the $40... It's nice of him to offer that.

Other than that, it's IN and it does work.... get a kitchen timer, like you said.
