The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Someday, after we find out what the future holds, we'll probably get a dog. Matthew wasn't all that interested in the bunny and Joshua has a plethora of toads and lizards to play with...he doesn't seem concerned.

'Course, we're not making a big deal out of it either...I actually haven't said anything about it (except to Steve) and no one has even mentioned it.

But Fiver is still not out there.

I just got in from Sam's Club. Got some more wax paper liners for my deli baskets. I'm finally running out of the box that Steve got me for Christmas! It's been great...we use them constantly and they lasted forever!

I also got two boxes of liners for one of my fellow BA CHEF members who is expecting their sixth next month. When Steve bought me the baskets, they came as a box of 24, so I'm going to give her eight, with 1000 liners.

Oh...Good morning!

Life is hard for the little wild things, that's why they have so many babies. Most don't make it. But your little one might have just moved on, too.

This is true.

I did peek around the back of the fence into the single guy's backyard, just to see if there was any chance he was back there. And I'll ask my neighbor behind us (that gave Joshua the oranges when the chickens got killed) if they've seen him.

But it happens. Owls abound in this area...cats do what comes natural...there's even coyotes.

Just for future reference, here's my neighbor situation...

My friend across the street is a wonderful friend...her FIL has a grocery store and she frequently brings bags and bags of groceries over and shares them with me. I share anything extra I get with her too.

The guy to the west of me is the single guy that fixed up the house with the broken septic (where the Golden Retriever lived).

The house to the east of us (across from our shop) is owned by a young (formerly homeschooled) married couple...they're both lawyers and they zip around on a Honda motorcycle. The guy helps Steve with the Bug now and then. They are sweet good kids. They plan on starting a family but not now.

The house behind us stood vacant for several years...apparently the owners were thrown in prison and finally the bank took the house, fixed it up and sold it to an older couple...the lady is so sweet and the man is a gruff, chain-smoking, liquor-drinking former construction worker that graduated from OSU and seems to think the world of us! He's really a big ol' sweetie and when Steve had to put Puffy and Benny out of their misery, this big ol' fella really comforted Steve, who was pretty tore up. I like to throw produce over the fence at him...he thinks it's funny.

There's other neighbors...the ones with the pit bull, an elderly lady that lives alone, a grumpy pharmacist that if I don't know who to vote for, I just vote for the person he's against and then the sheriff. But I don't know any of them very well.

Do not...I repeat...do NOT show Silence of the Lambs to Rosie.

(I loved it!)

I agree it's a little heavy. And not because of the star characters so much as the weird little twerp that kidnapped the girl. He's seriesly creepy. But the repartee between Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins is gripping stuff... both are excellent actors.

It's like Fargo... there's terrific characters in it and it's worth seeing, but you forget how violent it is!

I agree...the chemistry between the two was great!

I believe it's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. I never saw Hannibal, but I heard it wasn't as good...and did they make Red Dragon?

We did show Rosie Team America the other night...

It's just too good to not share. We edited, muted or fast forwarded through the parts she wouldn't like...

Well, I just know that if I were a single woman, living alone in a trailer out in the country...I don't think I'd want to see SOTL. Heh heh...

Heh heh!

He loves turnips...so when my turnips were at their best, I picked a big bundle, tied them together and when I saw him sitting on his patio (through the wooden privacy fence) I threw them over! He yelled "THANK YOU!"

Heh heh!

"Well, your honor, they seemed like a nice family. They pretty much quiet and kept to themselves... except for every now and then she'd start tearing plants up by their roots and throwing them at me over the fence. It was a little odd, but she didn't ~seem~ dangerous at the time..."

What amazes me is that's the same guy that plays the Chief detective on Monk.

He must be a ~great~ actor, 'cuz I just can't see it.
