The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Dogs are funny...I spent so long trying to get Cisco to play with his toys, and he wouldn't, so I finally gave up.

Result? He's been carrying around his rope bone or one of his nylon bones for days - indoors and out, taking one to bed with him, doesn't want to ever be without them.

They choose 'em and you can't change their mind about them.

I have news that might stress you out a bit, but there's no getting around it: I heard a rumor from one of the gals at the store that Richard has sold the store, and your property. Rumor, because he won't confirm it to anyone, including his own staff, but she believes it, because the realtor told her, and the new owners have been seen counting things and taking inventory.

It probably won't change your life that much, I can't imagine they wouldn't want to keep you in there, in fact, it might improve your life if the new landlord is easier to work with, and there's at least a 50-50 chance they will be. At least they might sit still when you're trying to talk to them. :~)

That *is* kind of worrying...but it could be a good thing, I know. Eek, though...means a whole 'nother discussion of terms, most likely. And all that goes with that. *sigh* And hopefully doesn't mean they plan to do something else with this property!

Any idea who the new owners are or what they're like? And when this becomes official?

I really need a *666 post to post this on 06-06-06:

You Are 66% Evil
You are very evil. And you're too evil to care.
Those who love you probably also fear you. A lot.
How Evil Are You?

I think they're also Asian...

What does your lease say? I think it might be good to have a new discussion of the terms, particularly because whatshername never really came through and looked after the handymen fiasco.

If there's any question, we can prove the existing condition of the place, and the improvements you've made, through pictures, so they new landlords won't start out with some wrong impression of it's condition when you moved in. They should also know that you paid for the improvements like the fence and the fridge.

I suppose I would be ready for them to want to walk through... no idea ~for sure~ that the deals actually made, let alone when. But I got an earful from Kat last night.

The test didn't have any mad scientist questions.

I just hope he doesn't try to pretend the preexisting conditions didn't preexist. Grrr...

Kat is the gal that's usually there in the evenings?

Well...hopefully at least these folks won't act like I'm trying to pull a fast one when I point out improvements...

She's the rather thin blonde one that's the most 'senior' there. She talk-talk-talked about how shady Richard is, and all kinds of personal gossip... We're living behind Peyton Place. :~)

Pre-existing conditions we can prove... I took a LOT of pictures.

What's Peyton Place? Or do I wanna know? ;-)

In any case, I suppose I should be prepared to walk someone through sometime soon. Wonder if he'll pass keys to them or if I need to get more made or what.

Peyton Place (1957)

Coming-of-age story set in a small New England village whose peaceful facade hides love and passion, scandal and hypocrisy.

Uh-oh...

Heh...would a semi-rural store make a good setting for a NaNo novel? ;-)

Huh...switching to WPA seems to have made my average connection speed improve slightly...most of the time I'm getting more bars than usual by a bit. Didn't know security made any difference.
