The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

He missed guilt too. He's pretty much missing all the elements of a good conscience.

Now there's one critter I would not mind finding in my laundry!

Cutie!

There's a feral kitten outside under my mom's car. I tried to lure it out with some tuna fish, but all it did was hiss at me.

I'm in. Can't promise I'll actually complete the novel this year, but I'll give it a try!

Aw. Shucks. Did you leave the tuna out? Maybe after a bribery today he could be caught tomorrow.

heheh.. The Clayton's gave their kids some pretty convoluted names.

DeWitt Clinton Caldwell, Althea Alcestus, Thaddeus Anderson
Ruth Emma (that one isn't bad), Rosetta Marie,
Ellen Madora, Sarah Eudescia, Lizzie Annie (my great-greatgrandmother, and for whom bittygirl was named and yes bittygirl's name is convoluted)

Edna Earl, Althea Augusta, Doska Jane, Clarence Caroll, William Henry, Alice Marie, Sarah Bell

The Anderson's and Vardeman's were better though they did have the double name thing going. Your name wasn't merely Joe... it was Joe Edd.

Aggie Alton, Amazaiah, Bainbridge Annie, Billy Ray, Charlcie (female), Mae Etta, Bennie Ellen (female), Orra Elizabeth, Lela Bell (pronounced Lee-ler), Dormon Ray, Cornelius, Ford
Lola Bell, Charles Ray, Joe Laura (female), Nannie Mae, Sarah Ann Rebecca, Claudis Alden, Ida Belle, Orra Eva,
Inis Felicia, Lonnie Richard

Well...sometimes they're right.

It's still pretty squishy out there, though. *sigh* I feel guilty about not doing it, but...

Guess I just need to kill a few hours and then try it. I need to burn stuff, too. Skeery.

Well, burning is pretty safe right now... :~D

I'm not mowing today, still too wet.

If I'd been caught up on mowing before this wet weather started, it wouldn't be so bad, but as it is, my lawn looks like an abandoned pasture. Least the rest of the plants like it, too. Everything in the garden is at least up now, except the beans. And I have soooo many pansies, it's nutty!

Started the fire. Keeping an eye on it. I guess nothing can really happen, but my heart is still going kerthump kerthump.

Heh...it'd look better than it does. ;-)

Maybe I should get a couple goats. They wouldn't mind the rocks as much as the other mower does...

Eek!

Though...in some ways, wood doesn't bother me nearly as much as paper. I won't say that's logical, 'cause it isn't, but...

BTW, if you *do* torch a stickpile, I've got some sticks of my own. ;-)

You need a big stick, to kindof stir it when it burns down... otherwise you end up with a bunch of half-burned paper and stuff at the bottom.
