Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hmmm ... Rosie, have you considered becoming a Big Sister?
Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Thurston County needs 13 Big Sisters, according to their website. You don't have to be rich, you don't have to have a lot of special training. And what you do have is soooo much to offer to a girl who needs some positive female reinforcement!
You know how to cook. You can write kid's stories. You can play instruments. You can make things grow, and you have the room to grow things. You have great pets. You're a veteran. You, all by yourself, could widen some girl's horizons.
Think about it, won't you?

I think I'd be afraid of accidentally breaking someone else's kid. ;-) It's different with actual family...plus I'm so shy I wouldn't be much fun to a kid.
I do admire folks who are able to help with stuff like this, though. And I wouldn't mind getting involved in some stuff...I'm just afraid of responsibility.
Probably a good thing I ain't a parent, I guess. *sigh*
To: JenB
Yeah, do have Lost to watch eventually.
I did at least vacuum the livingroom and hall twice. So there's that. My vacuum cleaner keeps clogging...which is probably a vey clear sign that I need to vacuum more often.

To: RosieCotton
What, to mention salmon fishing? Which reminds me, I've never been salmon fishing.

Desert Eagle You preferred a weapon with 41% power over speed and 60% range over melee. |
You use a Desert Eagle. One of the most powerful handguns in production, the Desert Eagle is a heavy punch in a small package. Its reliability and speed are remarkable for a gun with such high caliber. Your enemies won't stand a chance as you fell them bullet by bullet. |
 |
My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
|
You scored higher than 99% on power |
|
You scored higher than 99% on range |
|
To: ecurbh
You should do something about that. :-)

Greatsword You preferred a weapon with 61% power over speed and 43% range over melee. |
You use a Greatsword. Do the words Zweihander or Flamberge mean anything to you? You prefer a Greatsword, a massive, heavy blade frequently strong enough to cut down the rides of mounted warriors. Though slow, the impressive length and heft of a greatsword makes it capable even of breaking through armor. Your enemies will run from the deadly arcs of your blade as you bear down on them. |
 |
My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
|
You scored higher than 88% on power |
|
You scored higher than 47% on range |
|
The funny thing is, I prolly couldn't even lift the durned thing - let alone wield it!

Weird... all it asked me for was male/female and date of birth. It also asked for a screenname, but you can skip that and it gives you the results anyway.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
hmmmm...I didn't try skipping that...

To: RMDupree
