I still have a bunch of other plants that I can't identify. What do iris roots look like? Or maybe I have lilies. I dunno. They've got tubular kinda roots...big ones. Not bulbs.

I think they need thinning, whatever they are, but I was kinda waiting to see if they ever bloom.

This fall, hopefully I can put a buncha tulips and daffodils in.

Isn't that what it's for? Or are they supposed to wait for you to find your shotgun?

I'm missing something. Probably just my bedtime :)

Yep, that's them. And the tubers should be mostly on top of the ground. If you're seein' them without having dug them up, that could very well be iris.

Hey - those are rather cool! Are these in the front or in the back?

We went to Home Depot on the way home and I bought some little shady mossy things to put under the big tree in the yard, and a couple seedling corn to put in a container.

Where'd you go?

Her tubers are mostly on top of the ground... and there's a whole bunch of them.

Hey - smoking nazi update... Trospers has built a big outdoor patio... fenced in but with lights and what look like heaters if it's cold... and they allow smoking and serve drinks out there.

Yeah, there are big tuber roots, the tops of which are out of the dirt. The leaves do look like that. Must be what they are!

No blooms, though. I dunno if it's just too early here or if there's something wrong with 'em.

Mine just bloomed in the last day or so. Prolly a little early for yours.

Well, it's been at least that long since anyone cared about these.

The bachelor's buttons are on the side of the house - near the big fern there.

I'll need to get some mossy things to go 'round the pavers, I think. It'll look nicer, anyhow, if'n I can get them to grow.

I just went to the grocery. Figured I'd take advantage of Cinco de Mayo to stock up on stuff like salsa and beans. ;-)

They also had Tillamook ice cream for under three dollars. So much for the diet...guess I'd *better* dig the garden by hand...

Guess I gotta keep my fingers crossed. Wouldn't it be nifty if I had a whole slew of irises back there in a month or so?

I'll take what I can get!

I think there's one more bachelor's button plant 'round in front, too. Just a little one - no buds on it yet. Doesn't get as much sun there, I don't think.

Or just grass..easy to mow that. The little mossy things I've seen may not take the sun you're gonna have on that side.

Do you only have the one outside water faucet? You're gonna need more hose to get water back there, aren't you... for the garden anyhow.
