Bengals extend Chad Johnson with monster deal

Three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Chad Johnson, one of the game's most explosive playmakers, has signed a new contract with the Cincinnati Bengals, ESPN.com has learned.
The deal includes a one-year extension, through the 2010 season, and an option for the Bengals to extend the deal through 2011, if they so desire. But in essence, by restructuring the remainder of Johnson's existing contract, which ran through the 2009 campaign, the Bengals created a six-year deal with a total value of $35.5 million.
In terms of "new money," which represents the total value of the new contact minus the money already owed to Johnson under his prior deal, the extension averages over $10 million per year. Johnson will earn $16 million in 2006-2007, compared to the $5.75 million he was scheduled to make before the restructuring and extension.

Chad Johnson probably does more to improve his quarterback than any reciever in the game right now.
Total punk - hope he tears his ACL in pre-season and never plays again.
I will never support punks like him, Owens, Keyshawn, etc.
The Bengals have shown a real committment to their stars; last year a huge deal to Carson Palmer to make him a Bengal for his career (hopefully a long and storied career after a full recovery from the knee injury), and an extension on Marv's contract. Now 85. Hopefully that Sam Adams character can help out the D, because the offense is potent as all-get-out.
That is completely inappropriate and mean-spirited. I can understand not liking a player (although in Chad's case, I'm surprised given his good-natured personality), but wishing physical harm on anyone for so paltry a reason is beneath contempt.
It appears the plan is to get the key offensive stars locked up and then put the rest of their energies into building up the defense.
He's a play maker.
You hope Johnson tears his ACL.....
Wow, what would you want if you didn`t like him
Browns fan? Inferiority complex working there?
