Immigration officials raid Houston business

Immigration officials raid Houston business.

If we want more of the same I suggest we contact U.S. Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, to thank them and let them know we want MORE!

Here's the url of their web site: http://www.ice.gov/about/contact.htm

I think the office we need to contact is the Office of Public Affairs. If we want lots of letters of encouragement, we need to post an email link. I also believe we need to encourage Freepers to contact their local offices of ICE and demand they follow Houston's example.

What politicians do we contact? The press?

If we can get a ground swell of approval maybe, just maybe, they'll get the message and continue to do their job. If you think this has merit please post ideas.

Thanks

Raids also took place today at several of the firm's locations in upstate New York and in Biglerville, Pa.; Charlotte, N.C.; Cincinnati, Phoenix, Richmond, Va., and Westborough, Mass.

Guess we need to thank some more offices.

Anyone good at typing a boiler plate letter of thanks that could be printed, signed, and faxed back to the appropriate ICE office?

Also a letter of disdain for the branches of ICE that aren't doing their jobs? Using the Houston Chronicle article as an example of what we expect!

Am I the only one that thinks action against employers would be one of the most effective measures to help stem illegal immigration?

If we want more business raids, anyone who KNOWS a business employs illegals needs to report that business to Immigration. Away from the immediate area of the the border Immigration has to have probable cause to raid a business. It has to be good enough probable cause to convince a judge.

Please don't waste their time by reporting a business just on suspicion, it will just waste their time. However, if you are in a position to KNOW that a business employs illegals you should report it.

If this is part of a move to prosecute ALL employers, then that is a great start. If it is just a political stunt, and they are not going to go after all the contractors, meat packers, janitorial services, and other big employers of illegals, then it is unfair to concentrate on this one company. I'd rather President Bush announce that beginning May 1, the employer sanctions in the 1986 law will be fully and aggressively enforced, and then that he follows through. Put all of them in jail after May 1, it would put a big damper in illegal immigration for them to lose all those jobs. If he did that, the GOP would bump up 10 points in the elections. It won't happen, though, and so I think this is a political stunt that is falling entirely on one unfortunate company's head.

This should have been the BIG news headline last night. They nailed the business for illegal hiring practices. Think it happened in 7 states, altogether-Phoenix, Arizona, too. Yay, yay, yay. Can't veto that one, can ya, Nappy...
