You might not agree with them, but there are several reasons.

Yeah, but they're not all near US Military bases overseas, where a lot of servicemen are. And stateside it's the same way. Maybe you should set up some kind of national bridal registry for the armed forces :P

Look, is it any surprise why these guys marry foreign women? As long as there are countries poorer than the US where we have forces, there are going to be smart, pretty girls that know those guys are their ticket to a better life. The good ones will put aside thoughts of love and marry Americans for a better life. The bad ones will simply marry Americans long enough to get citizenship. A previous poster was right...in Olangapo City, the Bar Girls (hookers, basically) threw themselves at every sailor and marine that walked through the gates, especially focusing on young green boys, lonely and far from home, and older single servicemen, who were perhaps getting lonely. That's where your disasters happened. The smart older guys I knew found their wives outside of those centers that catered to the Navy. They'd get out and travel the PI, into the villages and smaller cities. One guy I knew married a teacher from PI, for instance. She was young and pretty, and educated in a Filipino college. Those are the ones that tended to last.

And why not more American women stateside? Because your typical sailor is only exposed to the worst examples of American women at enlisted clubs and off-base: your typical vain American party girl that went to the base looking for Tom Cruise, but will settle for getting drunk and laid with the good looking guys. So to a lot of military personal, there's slim pickins' at home from their point of view.

This isn't new. Think of all of the servicemen from WW II and the decade after that brought home pretty British, German, and Italian wives. In this area, I know a lot of vets with German wives in particular, all picked up from postwar Germany recovering from disaster. Plenty of guys from Vietnam brought home women from southeast asia. When my father was in the USAF in the early 70's and I was a small child, I remember a neighbor of ours near base that was from Cambodia. She married a younger airman to get to America. My mom asked once how she felt about him, and she confided that she didn't love him, but that he was good to her, and so she'd be a good wife to him. That just seemed pretty typical of the foreign wives my family was familiar with, and my impressions were reinforced when I went into the Navy myself.
